I'm Marcel Lambrechts and I mainly create realistic drawings with lots of details. I'm not searching for photorealism, but in my drawings I'm always looking for perfection in details and carefully adding shadows to create depth and bringing a drawing to life. My drawings are never a one on one copy of a reference photo.
Although I draw a lot of portraits, when choosing a subject for a new drawing, it's important to me that the subject evokes a certain feeling or tells a story. I want my drawings to invite people to "really" look at them. People should be wondering whats going on in the portrayed persons head, to immerse oneself in the atmosphere of the drawing or help people let their minds wander.
I love to work with graphite pencils, because this material gives me the opportunity to add a lot of details while it lets me play with contrast. Sometimes, when looking for more extreme contrast, I'm using charcoal.
